Once you have booked a job in via our contact us form and operations team. A fully qualified SES Testing engineer will attend the site to carry out your portable appliance testing in accordance with the IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. Each engineer has a City & Guilds 2377 certification and has had enhanced DBS check. We are available throughout London and the South of England. At the client’s request, as part of SES Testing the engineer does a formal visual inspection which includes:
• Checking the electrical equipment is in general good condition and suitable for its use.
• Is the lead in good condition and safe?
• Is the lead free from damage, nicks or cuts which could cause injury?
• Is the cable fitted properly to the plug?
• Does it switch on/off properly to allow you to isolate the power if needed?
• Is there any damage to the external parts?
• Is the correct fuse fitted? We do check this for you.
• Checking for signs of internal damage and overheating.
We will test everything to our high standards for electrical safety. If there are sensitive areas such as Server equipment, fire alarm, or CCTV that cannot be switched off, a full formal visual inspection can be carried out. Each Electrical Equipment will be labelled with a unique asset ID number and will state the date tested as per the latest 5th Edition, once fully tested.
AT THE END OF THE JOB
If any Electrical Equipment is deemed ‘not fit for use’ and ‘fail’ after the SES Testing, you will be informed and a detailed explanation of any problems found. We understand that as a business you will need to keep your health and safety policies up to date and have regular audits to comply with this. We want you to have peace of mind that all information and documents are received as quickly as possible so that you can concentrate on your business.
